The Ferrania Alfa is a simple camera. It was made in Italy during the war years, 1942 - 1947. Its body is entirely metal, while the film advance button - at the top of the camera - was originally made of bakelite (Alfa model ), while in the later models (B and C) it was metal. This particular model, is the Alfa. It carries a simple 70 mm, fixed f9 aperture lens. The shutter is of the guillotine type with a unique speed of 30 (i.e. 1/30 sec). Of course, there is also an option for the B value - where the shutter stays open as long as the button is pressed. The only adjustment the operator makes is the focus, which is achieved by rotating the lens. In later models, the distance scale was placed around the lens -as well as the inscription "Made in Italy". It used 127 film, the negatives were 4.5 cm x 6 cm and each film gave 8 exposures. It was the first Italian camera where focusing was achieved manually. It was the first camera to use a manual focus.
